The pages, tables and calculators here explain garnishment rules in general. They are not legal advice for your case and using them does not create a lawyer and client relationship.

Wage Garnishment Help is a help line and matching service. We are not a law firm and do not give legal advice. Some pages may be considered attorney advertising.

When you call or send a request, we may connect you with an independent garnishment professional. That can be a debt relief company, a tax resolution firm, a bankruptcy attorney or a consumer debt attorney.

Those professionals set their own fees and terms. What you do next is your decision.

Do not use the site to send someone else’s details or to harass anyone.

Privacy policy

The calculators run in your browser. The numbers you type into them are not sent to us. We count, without identifying you, which pages are visited, when a calculator is first used and when a call button is tapped.

When you send a request, we receive who is garnishing you, your state, your first name, your phone number, whether money is already coming out and the amount owed if you give it. We use it to call you back about your garnishment. We may share it with the partner categories above so they can help you and that sharing may count as a a sale/share of personal information under laws like the CCPA.

The writ reader sends the text you paste to us and we send it through an AI tool that writes the explanation. We keep only a count that the tool was used, not the text.

We set one cookie, wg_pref, which keeps the page layout the same while you read. Your browser also remembers the state you picked or the state we detected, so every page shows the same rules.

When you call, the call may be recorded for quality and to connect you with the right professional.
